Puppy Class
How familiar are you with the breed of puppy you have? Do you know what to anticipate with breed specific traits? Are you already noticing puppy behavior issues? Puppy class is a great way to start your education and relationship with you puppy. This class is structured for dogs from 2-6 months and will focus on a wide range of important topics.
The puppy class provides the basics needed for obedience through positive reinforcement, games, and socialization. You will learn how to prevent unwanted behavior and establish a bond with your puppy. We will work on problem solving and troubleshooting behavior concerns. Topics we work on in class are; sit, down, stay, leave it, recall, off, wait, and lose leash walking. This class is one hour long, and meets once a week for 5 weeks.
We will also teach you how to better understand and communicate with your new puppy. This will help you build a foundation and utilize the most effective methods of training. We are looking forward to helping you and your puppy create a great relationship from the beginning.
Understanding good nutrition, proper preventatives, and general care with a puppy is imperative. A good diet and healthy decisions help improve your puppy’s ability to focus, learn, and retain information better and faster.
Basic Class
Behavior issues are the number one reason dogs are surrendered to shelters. Once a pet is taken to a shelter, their chances of finding a new home are limited. That is why obedience training and eliminating behavior issues are so important to us. Our goal is to provide you and your pet with the skills to prevent this tragic situation from happening. Whether you have recently adopted a dog or would like to train the pet you already have, this is a great class to enroll in.
Dogs must be older than 6 months, and it is not mandatory to have taken the puppy class prior to this class. Our emphasis will be on positive reinforcement and introducing the skills necessary for your dog to become a wonderful and obedient companion. Our goal is to eliminate inappropriate behavior and replacing them with appropriate behaviors. We will teach you how to communicate and understand your dog, focusing on basic obedience skills including sit, down, stay, heel, recall, and wait. We will also be working on the beginning stage of teaching your dog appropriate behaviors around strangers and in public areas.
